The Sweetest Cathedrals are found around the world and they call me Young Thing Finder!

Religion is a touchy subject and all, but I was totally touched when I entered these Churches!

What’s the difference between a church and a cathedral anyway? These are the tough questions!

Yeah, I don’t know how to start this as you can see. Anywho, on to the Sweetest Cathedrals in Christendom!

Anyways, just read the title, this is gonna be a post about the nicest cathedrals I’ve seen in my travels, mostly judging their aesthetic wonderment as I am prone to do. Just my opinion of course but I feel the need to shout out and put in a good word for Jesus and the gang, Lord knows they don’t get enough love. Get it? Lord knows!?

1. Cathedrale Sainte Marie Majeure, Marseille, France

You ever heard of this old movie called the French Connection? Should I watch it? The important thing is that I learned from the existence of such a film that criminals exist in France too! So with that disdain in my membrane, I was afraid to visit Marseille in particular, which I’d heard was crime-ridden and dangerous, making me overly cautious when I arrived. However, leave it to Jesus to save the day! I was heading to the Museum of Mediterranean Civilizations when I happened across this glorious monument. It was a magical moment, the grandiose size of the building’s facade and central towers bringing me closer to salvation! The bright colors of the cathedral’s outside design really drew me in, and its stature and placement in the city near to the Old Port made it stand out even more, one of the first buildings to begin my Archophilia.

2. Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, St. Petersburg, Russia

I feel as though this Church, whose name I can’t be bothered to say due to my Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia (or whatever the alternative is for fear of long phrases), is really underrated. It’s the little brother of the more famous St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. I was amazed by the sensual, vivid colors on the inside to match the unique and quirky shape of the outside. Quirky is probably not the best word to describe it, but as a Westerner, I feel that’s how we often look at these iconic Russian Onion Domed Churches. It sits in a rather inconspicuous place, between a city park and a canal and looks rather small from the outside but upon entry, you will be blown away by the mosaics, deep colors and opulent altars, testifying to the grand status of the church and its place within St. Petersburg.

3. Saint Vitus Cathedral, Prague, Czechia

You better Czech yourself before you Shrek yourself! With all my pent-up emotions now released in one statement, let’s talk about something vitus! I know that was bad but I’m just say-int! Okay, this blog gonna be a failure huh? Back to selling feet pics for me! Nah, but this cathedral is in an absolutely amazing location, the marquee spot within the Prague Castle Complex, a must on any trip to the City of 1000 Spires. That shit was nice! If you visit, you can see more than just the church in the immediate area. With imposing Gothic architecture, sitting atop a hill from which you can view the city, what’s not to love about this place? No seriously, tell me what’s not to love cuz I just proposed. I’m still waiting for an answer though… just like we’re waiting for an end to Capitalism…

4. Duomo di Pisa, Pisa, Italy

Ah the Duomo di Pisa, aka the lesser known best friend of the Leaning Tower. You could say this church is there for the tower when it needs someone to lean on! Get it!? Except no, nobody is there for the tower. Despite all the other building homies knowing it’s been falling for years, no one offers a hand (churchs don’t actually have hands fyi), reminding us that at the end of the day life really is a cold, lonely journey where you trudge, passing through fleeting moments called friendships when in the end nobody is truly there for you, truly reliable, but yourself and the quicker you embrace the bitter reality, the quicker you leave the delusion you won’t be hurt by others, the quicker you can stand on your own, unlike the tower!

Haha! Dissed! Fuck the tower honestly, no one cares if it’s suffering! I say the Duomo should it push it over to steal some well-earned clout. It gets no respect anyways. Legendary 21st-century American philosopher Offset once said ‘they do anything for clout’ and did you know he was referring to the relationship between the Duomo and the Leaning Tower? Yup, if you play it backward and then look at Cardi B upside with a triangle over your face you will hear the words ‘fuck the Leaning Tower, long live Duomo!’ So yeah if the Duomo decides to off the tower, it’s justified murder if you ask me, heartless as it may be (churches don’t have hearts either fyi).

What’s the meaning of Life?

So that’s my little list! I hope you enjoyed! If you didn’t, just pretend you did, life is all about lying and deception nobody cares about reality anymore. That shit’s played out! Reality who!? Nevertheless, I apologize if my photos are not that great because many are from my first solo trip abroad when my camera skills were Scheisslich. Still, this is my opinion and yeah if you want more, you can actually say cuz I don’t feel like arbritarily saying I will do part 2 in this episode. So uh yeah, go pray or something!
